SOFIPA: 21 Years Leading Financial Inclusion for Women.

Transforming Communities:

In a world where access to opportunities remains unequal for many women, economic autonomy becomes a fundamental pillar for achieving gender equality. Without financial independence, the fight for women’s rights and empowerment remains incomplete.

For 21 years, SOFIPA has worked with a clear purpose: to make financial inclusion a real engine of change for thousands of entrepreneurial women. We believe in their talent, in their ability to transform their reality, and in their right to access tools that allow them to grow without barriers.

Throughout our history, we have granted over 1,125,000 loans, totaling more than 555 million dollars, directly impacting the lives of women who had no access to traditional bank financing. These women have used these resources not only to strengthen their businesses but also to build a more stable future for themselves and their families.

Financial Inclusion: Key to Gender Equality

Talking about gender equality without addressing economic independence is to ignore a crucial aspect. According to World Bank data, women face more barriers in accessing financing, business training, and job opportunities.

At SOFIPA, 91% of our loans have been granted to women, positioning us as a leading institution in gender-focused financial inclusion. But we don’t stop at providing financing—we also offer training, guidance, and financial education, because we know that true economic empowerment requires much more than just a loan.

Financial education is key for women to learn how to manage their income, plan their growth, and make strategic decisions. Training a woman in finance not only impacts her life but transforms entire communities.

Breaking Barriers: Credit as a Tool for Change

Women have proven to be excellent resource managers and visionary leaders, yet they still face significant challenges:

  • Lack of access to financing: Many women lack credit history or collateral, which limits their access to traditional bank loans.
  • Gender stereotypes: Prejudices still exist that undermine women’s ability to manage businesses or lead financial projects.
  • Wage gaps: Globally, women earn less than men in similar roles, limiting their capacity to save and invest.

At SOFIPA, we actively work to break down these barriers. Our group lending model allows women to form support networks and access financing without the need for traditional collateral—so they can grow together.

We have seen how this model has driven businesses in sectors such as commerce, food, groceries, and catalog sales, enabling women to generate stable incomes, improve their living conditions, and strengthen the local economy.

We know that when a woman advances, so does her family, her community, and all of society. Investing in her development not only transforms her life but creates a lasting positive impact for generations.

The Impact of Financial Inclusion on Women

The data backs the importance of offering more opportunities to women in the financial sector:

  •  Women entrepreneurs allocate 90% of their income to family and social well-being. (BBVA)
  • Loans granted to women show lower default rates, demonstrating their financial responsibility and commitment (IDB).
  • Companies with higher female leadership participation are more profitable and sustainable (Harvard Business Review).

These figures show that supporting women’s growth is not just an act of justice—it’s a smart strategy for economic and social development.

More Rights, More Autonomy, More Equality

Over these 21 years, SOFIPA has proven that financial inclusion is a key pillar for gender equality. It’s not just about giving loans—it’s about breaking down barriers, generating opportunities, and transforming lives.

Economic autonomy is the key for more women to break cycles of dependence, take control of their future, and build a more equitable world. It’s not enough to recognize their efforts—we must actively support them to drive real change.

At SOFIPA, we will continue to invest in more women having access to rights, financing, and training. Because when one woman advances, we all do.

Let’s keep building a fairer and more inclusive future together!

But I must explain to you how all this mistaken denouncing plesure and praising pain was born
